Sleep Issues, Anxiety & Anger
What can I say about Andy? Other than amazing!
I was recommended to Andy by a friend to try and help me with my sleep issues. However, during the work Andy did with me, it quickly became apparent that I had a very full, huge bucket of stress that needed to be addressed. Andy has been fantastic – every session with him is positive, fun and rewarding. His method is not one for dwelling on the negatives but to pick out the positives (trust me there are plenty even when you don’t think there are) and to work with those positives week on week. Andy is wonderfully warm and coupled with his sense of humour he really helped me address so much and feel so much better about life that I feel I can go forwards now. During my time with Andy, over the course of the sessions, I was also setting up my own business but due to the work I was doing with Andy and the work we did together he made me feel positive and truly believe in myself and my new career.
It’s been absolutely wonderful to meet Andy and I cannot recommend him highly enough, even if just to find some peace and calm in your hectic life then this therapy is for you. It will be the best thing you can do for yourself.

Self-confidence, Self-esteem
When I first consulted Andy, I was a sceptic but, on our first session, he emboldened me to take a look inside myself; something I’ve always avoided. This was the first amazing step in the process to improve my self-worth. He has this wonderful ability to make you feel comfortable and at ease from the outset. He is understanding, perceptive and encouraging and only ever gives measured, considered advice. In trance, his gentle calm soothed and assuaged my cares so that, by the end of each session, I felt immensely relaxed, refreshed and able to look ahead positively. As time went on, Andy’s perception enabled me to realise other issues and, with his help, I am now able to enjoy life without feeling unnecessary guilt.
With the mantra ‘I can and I will’, I’ve learnt to deal with my insecurities and how to reflect on my strengths and achievements. I am so grateful to Andy for my new-found inner strength and confidence.

Emotional Flexibility
Andy Charles has an amazing talent for helping you be the best version of yourself.
I went into his hypnotherapy programme conscious that at times when I am under pressure or feel that I have a lot to do, I become too task-focused, lose perspective a little and don’t get the best out of myself, or work as well as I can with other people. Andy helped enormously and very quickly! His explanations of what goes on in your brain at times like that were brilliant – clear and understandable and at times amusing! Then in the trance states that he put me into, I found myself enjoying the opposite mental state; feeling calm, relaxed and confident and ready to deal with whatever happens in life in the best possible way. After a couple of sessions, amazingly, I found that state occurring to me in my day- to-day life, when I needed it. As the programme went on, I became more aware of the times when I was too task-focussed and more and more able to trigger myself into the calm, relaxed and confident state that I wanted. The great news is that this has made so many different aspects of my life more enjoyable; I feel that I have more headspace for other people and cope much better with multiple and conflicting demands and I am just, well…happier.
In one session, Andy uncovered at the beginning that I was particularly uncomfortable with an upcoming life change. He quickly adjusted, changing the session into a visualisation one that was as a complete turnaround for me; from that moment on, I have been positively looking forward to the change in question and the possibilities that it brings!
Whether you have experienced hypnotherapy before or not, I heartily recommend trying it with Andy – I think that you’ll be astonished at what it does for you.

Rodent Phobia & Self-confidence
I originally came to see Andy for a phobia of rodents. He put me at ease straight away. The sessions were great, really relaxing, and he spoke in a way I could identify with.
I felt great after each session. We have also worked on my confidence; I was very insecure about a lot of things before my sessions with Andy and I feel so much stronger now and I look at a lot of things in a very different way which has improved my life immensely.
Andy has a very calming approach to his sessions – he listens to what you say and has great empathy. He is very professional and I highly recommend his therapy. It has done me the world of good.
Andy also provided me with a recorded relaxation session which I listen to every night. It brings me to a very relaxed state immediately, a great way to fall into a deep sleep.

Fear of Sleep
Andy was very comforting and kind, and explained things in a way that was easy to understand. I feel better about my sleep problems now.
GK’s Mum: I loved the way that Andy immediately put Greta at her ease, and was flexible in his approach to the sessions with her. There has definitely been an improvement in her worries about sleep, and she settles more easily at night now.

Stress
I came for Zoom sessions, during Lockdown, during a very stressful time, initially out of curiosity and with no real expectations.
However, Andy was quick to put me at my ease and established an immediate rapport through an engaging, relaxed and positive approach. He explained clearly how the brain works, why problems occur and how change happens, making scientific background accessible and straightforward.
At various times, sessions were calming, empowering, thought-provoking and motivating. The therapy was solution rather than problem focused which meant not dwelling on the past or problems but exploring weekly goals and simple steps to improve the present situation and constantly build on progress.
Andy offered an audio recording at the outset and I have continued to experience the benefits from that.
I found my approach to issues changing as Andy actively encouraged me to re-evaluate thoughts, becoming calmer and more confident in my decisions. Crucially, that change of mindset lead to new perspectives, so that an increasing sense of well-being persisted, even when there were new hurdles to overcome.
I found the whole experience fascinating, rewarding and inspiring and warmly recommend Andy as an excellent therapist who will make a difference.

Lockdown Anxiety
I’m a successful business owner in central London and, without realising at the time, the pandemic hit many aspects of my life in a negative way.
A friend suggested trying hypnotherapy to help ease my stress & anxiety which I initially dismissed as being something a bit too nebulous for me. I couldn’t have been further from the truth.
Through a course of sessions Andy helped me look at things from a different perspective, analysing how the brain works and finding ways to be gentler & kinder to myself. I can’t recommend him highly enough.

Imposter Syndrome & Anger
I came to Andy for help with my ‘imposter syndrome’ and also how to deal with my anger as it can get the better of me at times.
Andy explained to me the different parts of the brain – the immature/child part and the adult/reasoning part and why and when they function the way they do. This was so insightful and after only a few sessions, when things weren’t going my way in life and I felt angry, I started to recognise what was happening; that my brain was just functioning in a particular way. This stopped me in my tracks and thus I was able to control my feelings and the situation better.
Furthermore, Andy’s recordings that ‘put me under’, were deeply relaxing and helped me feel brighter about life in general, that I don’t have to take it so seriously all the time and that I deserve happiness. Hence, I stopped telling myself so much negative stuff and started to see life how it really was.
Ultimately, Andy was clear, concise yet compassionate. He knew what needed to be done to help me and he did just that.

FAQs
What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis or trance describes periods where we experience a shift in our conscious awareness. We go into these states often throughout the day – it’s that day-dreamy feeling we might experience when out walking, listening to music, or even doing the washing up! Trance is natural and safe and not at all the same as stage hypnosis; you are always in control and not unconscious. It’s really relaxing and helps us reflect and consolidate new information.
How many sessions are required?
This of course will vary from person to person depending on the issue and the level of stress or anxiety associated with the issue. I find, with most issues, six to twelve sessions are typical to ensure the positive changes are made in the mind and for new patterns to be created. Phobias are usually successfully treated in three sessions.
What can I expect at an Initial Consultation?
I’ll ask you to complete a consent form and inform you how your data will be utilised and protected. I will discuss the issues for which you are seeking help and spend time finding out how you’d like things to be different. I’ll gather general information from you together with any history or conditions that you feel are relevant.
I’ll discuss how the mind works and what’s happening in your brain and body when you’re experiencing the issue you’d like help with. I’ll inform you how many sessions I think we’ll need to see each other for. The Initial Consultation is a great way for us to get to know each other and for you to ask any questions to help you be informed and comfortable about the process and fully understand how it will help. There is no obligation to continue treatment following the free Initial Consultation; it’s a chance for you to feel totally happy before you make any decisions to continue.
How is SFH different?
Unlike other forms of Hypnotherapy, SFH uses a specific structure which incorporates several aspects of Solution Focused Brief Therapy. And, unlike other therapies, we don’t dig into the past and revisit traumatic events – this is not necessary to formulate plans and hopes for the future. You know what you don’t want to experience, so we focus on what you do want to experience.
How does online therapy work?
It works exactly the same way as a face-to-face session and is just as effective. It’s a convenient way for you to access therapy from the comfort of wherever you happen to be, there isn’t any travelling involved and many clients just find it much easier to fit into their schedules. All you need is a reliable internet connection, a laptop or device with good sound and camera and some headphones to be fully involved in the process and to block out distractions.
